Spørsmål

Hello Can you please give me some information. My daughter will be starting education programme in Oslo in August. As she suffers from a chronic illness, she needs intravenous cortisone every 4-6 weeks. She brings this medication with her from home, but she cannot inject herself. Is it possible for my daughter to get an appointment with a doctor from SIO for this injection? What documents does she need to bring with her?

Hello!

SiO does its best to help students from EEA countries with their medical issues. It is important that students bring documentation of the illness from the relevant specialist and the treatment they are receiving. This documentation must be written in either English or Norwegian. It is also important that students bring the medicines they use with them. It may be a good idea to check with customs regarding which documentation is needed when traveling.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide specific details on medical treatment for each individual case. It is important to note that treatments for various conditions can vary from country to country, and doctors in each country are obliged to follow national guidelines. In most cases, treatments in Norway will follow international guidelines, but I cannot guarantee that a treatment started abroad will be able to be continued in Norway if it is not based on internationally and nationally approved medical guidelines.

Welcome to Norway!

Medical doctor
