Spørsmål
Hi! I will be an exchange student at BI in the Fall semester and will be living in SIO Housing (Bjolsen). As I have to take prescribed medication which requires me to have a monthly check of my blood levels I am right now organizing how I can get a monthly blood check in Norway. Can you maybe help me and give me information if this is possible within SIO Health and how much it would approximately cost? Thank you!
The health services at SIO try to do their best to help the exchange students, but unfortunately I cannot give you a simple and clear answer to this exact question. The answer to your question depends on several factors, including whether you come from an EEA country or not, which tests and treatment are involved, what kind of health insurance you have and how long you will be in Norway. For long-term stays, you will be able to get a personal identification number in Norway and thus be able to register as a patient at SIO health services. In the case of a short-term stay, you do not have this option. You can always use private healthcare services in Norway, but this is of course more expensive. I would recommend that you contact your health insurance and your new place of study in Norway and discuss with them what rights you have.
Good luck and welcome to Norway!
Vennlig hilsen
