Hi, My husband and I just moved to Norway from abroad and are a little worried about the upcoming winter. What vitamins should we start taking to be prepared? I have heard that vitamin D takes a while to have any effect, so I'd like to plan ahead. Thanks!

Welcome to Norway!
Yes, it is absolutely true that it is important to take vitamin D supplements in the winter months from September to May. This is due to little access to the sun during these months. The national recommendations say that you should take 10-20 micrograms of vitamin D daily. Most people have good stores of vitamin D after a summer. If you start with vitamin D supplements in September, you will be able to maintain good levels throughout the winter. Beyond this, there is no particular need for other vitamins as long as you have a varied and healthy diet.
