Spørsmål
Hello, I was bitten by a tick 2 days ago. I removed it immediately and the site of the bite has not turned red or gotten worse since. I wonder if I should still see a doctor. I have been vaccinated against TBE, but the last time was 15 years ago.

Thank you for reaching out. It’s good that you removed the tick promptly and that the bite site has not worsened. In most cases, if the area remains uninflamed and shows no signs of infection, there is no need to see a doctor.
However, it is important to monitor the site for any changes, such as redness spreading outward in a ring-like pattern, swelling, or flu-like symptoms. This could indicate Lyme disease or another tick-borne illness. If you notice any of these signs, I recommend booking an appointment with your GP.
Regarding TBE vaccination, the general recommendation is to receive booster doses every 3–5 years if you are at risk of exposure. Since your last vaccination was 15 years ago, your immunity may have weakened. If you live in or frequently visit areas where TBE is prevalent, it may be worth considering a booster dose. In Oslo you can contact SiO Helse. Students elsewhere in the country are welcome to see if there are similar offers in their student organization or they can contact their GP.
Best regards,
Vennlig hilsen
