Spørsmål
Hello, I would like to know more about the HPV testing for woman and general information. Also, I would like to ask if I should be worried about bumps in vagina. It disappears before and during the period, but comes back later. I have been diagnosed with yeast infection previously and some atypical sells were appearing. I have negative results test for all the types of STD, but I didn't do the test for HPV.

The HPV test is not part of the usual test for sexually transmitted diseases. The reason for this is that infection with the HPV virus is common and the vast majority of these infections go away on their own. There is also no specific treatment against the HPV virus. What is available, however, is the HPV vaccine, which the majority of 12-year-olds in Norway receive via the children's vaccination programme. As said, most HPV infections go away on their own, but in some cases they can cause long-term infections. This in itself increases the risk of cell changes and cervical cancer. HPV testing is therefore carried out in connection with screening for cervical cancer. All women in Norway between the ages of 25 and 69 are invited to have a cervical smear and tests for the HPV virus. It is not usual to test for the HPV virus in healthy 20-year-old women without relevant complaints, such as irregular bleedings or bleeding during intercourse.
If you have not received the HPV vaccine, I would recommend that you consider taking this. It protects against the most common types of HPV virus that are associated with cervical cancer.
Unfortunately, I cannot say what the recurring lumps in the vagina are without an examination. I would recommend you to have it examined by your doctor for a definite diagnosis.
I hope this was helpful!
